Communities - Member Profile
Member Profile is the collection of all data points for the community member. Member profiling can help you reach out to your target members more effectively. Also, these profile fields will be globally present for all members and they would need to enter the details in these fields respectively.
Can I disable the Profile field section on the Member Portal?
Yes, you can enable/disable the whole profile field section on the Member Portal by just toggling functionality.
How to add a new profile field?
To add a new profile field, go to Community >> Profile 2.0 >> Community Member Profile and then click on "+ New Profile Field" button.
What all details needs to be added in order to create a Profile field?
You would need to provide the below-mentioned details in order to create the Profile field-
- Languages- Provide the language in which you would like to create this profile field. By default, English will be selected. However, in the case of multi-lingual, the selected languages will appear in the dropdown.
- Label- The name of the Profile Field that will appear to the member.
- Title- A small title for your Profile Field.
- Field Type - This is a drop-down field where you can select the type of your profile field. Once the selection is made, it will further drill-down to let you add choices or options.
- Profile Group- If there are profile groups available for the community, that will be displayed in the dropdown. This basically allows you to club relative profile fields under one group.
- Force Validation - This will make the profile field required i.e the member can not skip the profile field updation.
- Private Hidden Field - If enabled, the member will not see this profile in the portal and will not have access to edit the field.
The feature is very useful when you have some kind of private information of the panelist that you don't want them to update easily without any authentic means (i.e. Social Security Number, Voter ID, Driver's License information etc.).
- Conditional Logic - If enabled, this field can be made conditional based on members responses to some other field in the profile.
- Survey Custom Variable - The field can be mapped to any of the listed system variables in the dropdown.
- DataShare Visual - You can select from any of the list charts you would like to draw and share the results of that particular profile field. The chart will be seen under the DataShare tab on the portal.
- Merge tag - Initially, 0 value is assigned to this tag and once you save the profile field, and edit by clicking on the name of the profile field, you will see a unique value associated with this tag. This is further used in the Email Template "Send" tab.
Once all the above-mentioned details are added, click on "Save" button to save the Profile Field.
What are the 3 dots on the top right corner?
When you click on the dots, you will see 3 options -
- Settings: When you click on the settings option, you will see the toggle.
This toggle if turned on, makes it imperative for the panel members to complete their member profile. If the profile is not already complete none of the surveys sent to them get displayed until it's done, and a message prompting to do this is displayed in the 'My Surveys' section.
- Reorder: As the name suggests, it allows you to re-roder the profile fields.
- Import Profile Data: It lets you to upload the profile field data in the escel format. (Usually opted when doing operations in bulk.)
Can I delete the Profile Field?
When you hover over the Profile Field row, you can perform 2 actions -
- Move: This allows you to move the profile field to the Profiling Survey.
- Delete: This allows you to delete the profile field.
You can also edit the Profile field by clicking on the name of the saved profile field. Once you click on the name, the edit pop-up will open. You can make the required changes.
