Matrix Extraction

Setting up matrix extraction is slightly different from setting up extraction on a multiple-choice question.

In this example, we are asking respondents to rate their satisfaction with smartphone brands. For any brand where the respondent is very dissatisfied or not satisfied, we want to ask for additional text feedback.

To set up extraction, go to: Login » Surveys » Edit

Click on the Logic option for the matrix question.

Select Extraction logic from the drop-down.

In this example, we are extracting Selected Rows to question type Multiple Rows (Text).

We want to ask follow-up questions if respondents select either Very dissatisfied or Not satisfied for any of the matrix rows.

Save Extraction Logic.

In this example, we are asking respondents to rate their satisfaction for the smartphone brands.

For the brands where the rating is Very dissatisfied or Not satisfied, we will ask follow-up questions asking for detailed comments on why respondents are not satisfied.
